Introduction
Creating a Kindle-ready ebook in Designrr is quick and straightforward. In just a few steps, you can select your content, review the formatting, design a cover, preview the final result, and download your book as an ePub file ready for publishing.
If you are new to Kindle publishing, keep in mind that Kindle books use a different format from PDFs. For best results, make sure your content is properly structured before exporting.
Step 1: Start a New Kindle Book Project
From the Dashboard, click the blue + Create button in the top-right corner and select Kindle Book.
This opens the Project creator screen.
Here, confirm that you want to create a Kindle Book and choose From existing doc to be used as my baseline if you want to use content already saved in your Docs section.
Then click Let’s start to continue.
Step 2: Review and Prepare Your Content
Your content will open in the Writing a content step.
Before moving on, review the text and make sure it is properly formatted. For example, use heading styles such as Heading 2 for section titles and keep the content structure clean so it displays correctly on Kindle devices.
You can also add or edit elements directly in the content area before continuing.
Once your manuscript is ready, move to the next step to create your cover.
Step 3: Create Your Cover
In the Create cover step, choose a cover template from the available options on the left-hand side.
After selecting a template, you can customize it using the editing tools in the left sidebar, including:
Templates
Layout
Text styles
Artworks
Media
Cover Settings
When you are happy with your cover, click Save.
Step 4: Preview Your Kindle Book
In the Preview step, you can see how your ebook will look before downloading it.
Use the device icons at the top to switch between different reading views, such as Kindle, tablet, and phone, so you can check how your Kindle Book displays across devices.
You can also scroll through the page thumbnails on the right to review both the cover and the content of your ebook.
If you want to make changes, click Edit and choose whether you want to update the Content or the Cover. If everything looks good, click Next to continue to the download step.
Step 5: Add Final Details and Download
In the Download Kindle step, you can review your ebook details and statistics, including:
word count
number of chapters
estimated read time
book type
You can also add a description for your ebook manually, or click Write with AI to generate one automatically.
If needed, you can enable or disable the Hide Cover option. When this option is turned off, the cover remains included in the exported ePub file and will appear as part of the ebook. When it is turned on, the cover is removed from the ePub file, so the ebook content will begin without a cover page.
When everything looks correct, click Download Kindle files to export your ebook.
Your Kindle Book will be downloaded as an ePub file, and the cover will be downloaded separately as a PNG file, ready to upload to Amazon KDP.
You’re Done
Your Kindle Book is now ready for publishing on Amazon KDP.
