How to Import Your Own Cover Image

In this tutorial, you will learn how to import a complete cover image that was designed outside Designrr.

Written by Enrique

This option is useful if your cover already includes the background image, title, subtitle, author name, fonts, and layout, and you want to use it as a single cover image in your project.

Important: Use the Correct Cover Size

Before importing your cover image, make sure the file is saved in PNG format and that the dimensions match the selected paper size of your Designrr project.

The cover image must use the same page size dimensions supported by Designrr. If the image size does not match your project size, the cover may not fit correctly.

The available paper sizes for ebook projects are:

  • Letter

  • A4

  • A5

  • 6x9

  • Legal

  • A3

  • Square

For example:

  • Letter size project: 816 px wide Γ— 1056 px high β€” 72 dpi

  • A4 size project: 795 px wide Γ— 1125 px high β€” 72 dpi

Before starting your project, select the desired paper size for your ebook in the template selection area. This option is available before the project is created, so make sure you choose the correct size at this stage. Then prepare your cover image using the matching dimensions for that paper size.

1. Select the media icon on the cover page

On the cover page, click anywhere on the existing cover image.

Then click the blue tab to open the toolbar and select the media icon.

This will open the Images section in the left sidebar.

2. Upload your cover image

In the Images section, make sure you are in the My Images tab. Click the Upload an Image button and add your cover file to the upload field.

Then click Upload Photo.

3. Remove the existing text elements from the template cover

Before adding your new cover image, remove the text elements from the default template cover.

This is important because your imported cover image already includes its own text, fonts, and layout.

If you find an element that is locked and cannot be removed, you can leave it in place. In most cases, the element background is transparent and will not be visible over your imported cover image.

4. Open the Images section again

After removing the existing text elements, click anywhere on the current cover image again. Then click the blue tab to open the toolbar and select the media icon.

This will open the Images section in the left sidebar again.

5. Select your uploaded cover image

In the My Images tab, locate the cover image you uploaded. Double-click the image thumbnail.

The selected image will replace the existing cover image in your project.
