How to Use the BSR Calculator

In this tutorial you are going to learn how to use the BSR Calculator to estimate the monthly sales of a book using its Amazon Best Seller Rank (BSR).

Introduction

The BSR Calculator helps you estimate how many copies a book sells each month based on its Amazon Best Seller Rank (BSR).

This is a quick way to evaluate the sales potential of competing books before choosing a topic or entering a market.

What Does the BSR Calculator Do?

The BSR Calculator converts an Amazon Best Seller Rank into an estimated monthly sales figure.

This gives you a better understanding of how well a book may be performing without having access to the publisher's actual sales data.

When Should I Use It?

Use the BSR Calculator whenever you'd like to estimate the monthly sales of a book listed on Amazon.

Step 1 – Find a Book on Amazon

Search Amazon for a book you'd like to analyze and open its product page.

IMPORTANT: If the first result is only available as an Audiobook, choose another title that includes a Kindle or Paperback edition. You'll use the Best Seller Rank (BSR) from one of those editions in the next step.

Step 2 – Locate the Best Seller Rank (BSR)

Scroll down to the Product Details section and copy the Best Sellers Rank (BSR) from either the Kindle or Paperback edition. Then enter that number into the BSR Calculator and click Estimate Sales.

Note: Amazon may display separate Best Seller Rank values for Kindle, Paperback, Hardcover, and Audible editions. For the most relevant results, use the Kindle or Paperback Best Seller Rank.

Step 3 – Estimate Monthly Sales

Return to BookSignal, enter the Best Seller Rank into the BSR Calculator, and click Estimate sales.

BookSignal will estimate the book's monthly sales based on the BSR you entered.
