1. Import the Audio or Video File
The supported file formats are: .mp3, .mp4, .wav, .mov, .aac, Youtube and Vimeo videos.
Note: Low-quality audio such as phone recordings, distant conversations, heavy background noise, or poor pronunciation, may result in incomplete or inaccurate transcriptions. For best results, aim for clear, structured recordings with minimal interference.
In the Dashboard, start by clicking the '+Create' button. For this example we are going to choose 'Import from YouTube'.
Enter the URL of the YouTube video. Then click on 'Add' >> 'OK' and finally 'Let's Start' - no need to select a theme at this time as you will be sent to the Docs section.
Once the transcription is finished you will receive a 'transcription completed' email and the new transcription will show up in the Transcriptions tab.
Click on the file and it will open in the transcription editor - see How To Edit the Audio Transcript
2. Best Practices for High-Quality Transcriptions
To ensure accurate and reliable transcriptions, it's important to use clear, high-quality audio. Here are some tips to achieve the best results:
Use High-Quality Recording Equipment
Opt for a good microphone or recording device, especially for podcasts, interviews, or meetings.
Ensure Clear Speech
Speak clearly and at a consistent volume. Avoid mumbling or speaking too quickly.
Limit Background Noise
Record in a quiet environment. Totally eliminate or, at least, minimize background sounds like music, traffic, or chatter.
Avoid Overlapping Conversations
Let each speaker finish their sentence before the next begins. This ensures better separation of voices.
Maintain a Close Recording Distance
Keep microphones close to the speakers to capture clear, direct sound and avoid distant, echoing audio.
Test Audio Levels Before Recording
Do a quick sound check to ensure voices are loud enough and free from distortion.
