How to Use Topic Explorer

In this tutorial you are going to learn how to use Topic Explorer to validate a book idea, analyze its market potential, and discover whether it is worth publishing.

Topic Explorer helps you evaluate a book idea before you begin writing. Using live Amazon marketplace data, BookSignal analyses your topic and provides valuable insights such as demand, competition, profitability, keywords, categories, and suggested book ideas to help you make an informed publishing decision.

Before You Begin

There are two ways to use Topic Explorer.

Option 1 – From Niche Finder (Recommended)

If you've just completed the Niche Finder tutorial and click Learn More & Validate in Topic Explorer, your selected niche is transferred automatically and BookSignal immediately begins analyzing it.

No additional input is required.

Option 2 – Start with Your Own Topic

If you already know the topic you'd like to research, simply open Topic Explorer, enter your book topic or niche, and click Run Topic Explorer.

Both methods provide the same detailed market analysis.

What Does Topic Explorer Do?

Topic Explorer analyzes your book idea and provides detailed research to help you decide whether a niche is worth pursuing.

The report includes:

When Should I Use It?

Use Topic Explorer whenever you want to validate a book idea before investing time writing your manuscript.

Step 1 – Open Topic Explorer

If you arrived from Niche Finder, your selected niche is automatically transferred and BookSignal immediately begins the analysis.

If you're researching your own idea, enter your topic and click Run Topic Explorer.

Step 2 – Review the BookSignal Score

Once the analysis is complete, BookSignal assigns an overall score together with a recommendation.

It also provides a summary of your topic's demand, competition, sales potential and profitability.

Step 3 – Review the Revenue Potential

Scroll down to see the estimated revenue potential for your topic.

BookSignal also suggests pricing ranges for Kindle, paperback and audiobook editions.

Step 4 – Explore Suggested Book Ideas

BookSignal generates several related book concepts based on your selected niche.

These ideas can help you refine your publishing strategy or identify additional opportunities within the same market.

Step 5 – Analyze the Competition

Review the competing books already ranking in your niche.

BookSignal provides useful information including:

  • Best Seller Rank (BSR)

  • Price

  • Reviews

  • Estimated monthly sales

  • Estimated monthly revenue

Use this information to better understand the market before creating your own book.

Step 6 – Review Keywords and Categories

Topic Explorer suggests relevant keywords together with their estimated search volume.

It also recommends Amazon categories that best match your topic.

These suggestions can help optimize your book listing when publishing.

Step 7 – Generate Your WordGenie Prompt

If you have Designrr, Topic Explorer creates a ready-to-use prompt for WordGenie AI v4. Simply copy the prompt and paste it into WordGenie AI v4 to begin generating your book.

Step 8 – Save Your Research as a Project

To save your research for later, click Save to Project. You can save the analysis to an existing project or create a new one. This allows you to return to your research at any time without repeating the analysis.
